New Zealand Travelogue :: Waitomo Cave

We woke up pretty early and we went to have our morning exercise again, this time at Waitomo Cave. It was an exciting trip to the cave since I get to trek in the jungles, abseils etc. However weather hasn't been kind to us and it kept pouring. I guess the temperature went down to 4-7 degrees when we were about to leave the caves. Read my NZ Travelogue 1 & NZ Travelogue 2 if you haven't ;)

Here goes some snippets for our trip::

Woke up pretty early and we had our breakfast.
So sweet right?? There are so many post it notes sticked to the food for us. BTW, I LOVE NZ CEREALS. IT TASTE A-MA-ZING.
We love staying at home stays as while we were in Korea I suffered minor depression cus I didn't get to  talk to anyone (except salesgirl) as we were staying in hotel.
Strolled along the garden at the back.

 Sending us off! :))

Reached glow worm office. Here is Paul at the back. He led us to the caves ;)
Did you know that sheep's teeth looks exactly like humans? LOL OB feeding them with bread.
My best friend. Not kampong chicken please. lol
Geared up! Ready to go! ;)
OB abseiled down first. His first time and he took a good 5 minutes to get himself ready to go down. lol
Doing pretty good huh? ;)
And me? I tried abseiling countless times so I didn't took long. However, being a mighty me my leg landed in between rocks. Hurts? You bet.

Pretty views huh? ;)
If you know what that means... ;)
Scary as hell. In my previous post, I've highlighted that Yes, I'm afraid of heights. So it's a huge feat for me. BUT I CONQUERED LOLOLOL

Stopped after approximately 2.5hours of hiking. We had our lunch here. Look at those glow worms! They look like diamonds!! I could watch them forever. Am a fan of star gazing but I stopped cus OB finds it wasting of time to star gaze -_-
So pretty!!!

YES, this kept me happy. I love love love looking at them.

Here's us with glow worms! Worth a picture to keep ;)

Sea shells formed million years ago.
And we headed back to land after 6 hours of hiking in the cave.

We walked thru loads of waters, and yes. Been a short leg girl, who doesn't know how to swim has hindle them for quite awhile and countless of water entered my boots. BUT, I was so jubilant to walk in the waters though it's cold.
Looking all shag and burned out. But brought along a sense of fulfillment home. ;)

OB with Paul.

Exhausted and we warmed our tummies with Korean food again ;) Do not underestimate what a bowl of hot meal can do to provide your tummy warmth in this weather! Moreover food are relatively cheap over there compared to Singapore!

So here is my journey to Waitomo Cave. And my reviews? It was great even though the walk has been arduous for me (can't swim, scared of height). However, it is one of my top 3 favourites throughout this trip. One of the best adventures I've ever tried. Stay tune to my skydiving trip. Following post are gonna thrills you, I promise ;)
